"IP evaluation" is a comprehensive assessment of the extent to which intellectual property (Technology/invention, trademark, design, etc., and controlling rights of the same) is able to fulfill the roles and capabilities expected of each from legal, business and management perspectives.

Normally, the capacity that an intellectual property can exhibit is usually determined at the time of filing, however, even after acquisition of rights, continuous checks are necessary to determine how well the IP fits with business/management/strategy and in relation to the IP capabilities of other companies' rights.
